In 2008 Michele Castano took over Progetti Speciali, a Company which has distinguished itself, for over 20 years, in the Italian market of industrial automation and founds S.M.C.

The great skills of the team who believed at the start of the new activity, with the contribution of the new employees and collaborators, enabled the rapid growth of a structure which today boasts the title of preferred partner of leading OEM on this market. From the project feasibility to the remote assistance, S.M.C. fulfil the need for modernisation and technological improvement of production processes, in line with Customer standards and technical specifications, ensuring complete monitoring of all stages of design and construction.

S.M.C. covers an area of more than 8000 m², of which 450 m² are dedicated to technical and administrative offices, 600 m² to a machine shop equipped with last generation machineries, where all the special components are created to adapt the proposed solutions to product characteristics and environments, in the various production sectors, from automotive to pharma, from electronics to food and beverage. 3000 m² instead, are dedicated to the production area, where it is possible to build several plants and machines at the same time and to pre-assemble complete lines, even large ones, to perform functional tests simulating real service conditions.
Turnkey systems have been installed on 4 Continents, each one entirely designed, built and tested at S.M.C., under the control and fundamental cooperation of the Customer’s technical departments.

As a matter of fact those brands, already in use at our Customers’ sites, facilitate the task of learning to work with the new automation process, indeed simplify operator training and reduce the amount of spare parts. Additionally, upon request, real time assistance from remote even in augmented reality mode, complete the proposed service.

Coordination, planning and more than every other thing, the collaboration with the technical and commercial teams of our Clients, allow S.M.C. to achieve the ultimate goal, while optimizing the operational logistic and providing a tailor made service. All in the full respect of the activities going on at the involved Customers’ manufacturing facilities. Every material is certified, so each component, standard or special, made in our workshop, is traceable and available as spare. Customers can monitor all phases of construction since the whole process takes place exclusively at S.M.C.
